Service Learning Trainer's Toolkit
Nuturing A Nework of High Quality Service Learning Trainers
Have any of you used a textbook that's specifically designed for service-learning?
I teach Recreation, and I'm trying to figure out how/if to use a textbook entitled "Service Learning for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation."
It breaks service-learning down into steps - 1 chapter per step. 1. Launching the project (qualities of a good project, selecting the agency, reflection), 2. Building an effective team (communication skills, leadership styles), 3. Planning the project (mission statement, goals and objectives, timelines), 4. Implementing the plan (time management, customer service, evaluation), and 5. Finishing the project (celebration, reflection).
I'm always hesitant to add a textbook if it's not necessary. I was wondering what kinds of experience other folks have?
